Retro Road Trip

Wow, I didn't realize how absent I've been until I saw that my last post was over 2 months ago...but for good reason. I've been working tirelessly on new photography for both Studio Swede13 as well as Fine Art America. And I hope you like what you see. One of my newest collections has somewhat of a retro vibe. Groovy, boho, urban pop art. Peace out...

My New Favorite Color

~Provence~
https://www.etsy.com/listing/194041216/vintage-aqua-frames-frame-collection-old?ref=listing-shop-header-2

I finally invested in a few more Annie Sloan paint colors the other day. I'm typically drawn to the blues and greens which you would probably guess if you've had a visit to my vintage cottage shop. Duck Egg had been my front runner until I discovered Provence...ahhh smitten I am. I just happened to have this large collection of vintage frames begging to be painted and transformed from their various dated original golden state. With a little hand sander I distressed the details of each and allowed just a tad bit of that gold to peek through...the result...shabby goodness. I had painted my kitchen a similar hue just a few months ago. You'll see, when I get on a kick with a color it's all in or nothing. So here you have the unveiling of my frame collection, the first of many treasures to be transformed Provence style. If your feeling that shabby vintage vibe visit me at Swede13 Cottage...weathered elegance for the home.

A Few Good Books...

I'm constantly taking new twists and turns with my photography and lately I've been enamored with old books. Vintage book bundles are hot sellers in my cottage shop adding some some vintage charm to the home. So I figured why not turn these images into art? I've used my chippy old 1920's doors as the background, added a few blooms from the garden and artfully arranged a few elegant old books for some lovely library or office artwork. A dreamy quality to each image sets the perfect tone for the romantic cottage. Mat and frame a few 8x10 images for a fabulous wall collection or enlarge your favorite on canvas as a ready to hang modern piece of art with or without framing. Most images can be enlarged up to 24x36 for a stunning statement. Please pop on over and visit my entire romantic cottage photography collection at Studio Swede13. I am more than happy to offer you a coupon code for 20% off with your first order. Just enter the code WELCOME at checkout for the discount to be applied.

Old Book Love

I wandered into an old bookstore yesterday that I had never visited before and instantly knew it would be a frequent stop for my future treasure hunting escapades. The wall immediately to my right was filled top to bottom with tattered spines and tales of old. Many of the books were adorned with calligraphy inscriptions faded with the passing years. The delicate brittle pages begged to be handled with tender care. I was in search of old books with an aqua, green or soft blue hue to compliment the shabby cottage items in my etsy shop. Antique books make elegant home decor accents gracing a bookshelf or tabletop, adding the perfect amount of charm to any style home. I've gathered a few inspirations from none other than Pinterest for you to get the idea. As soon as I list my new book bundle treasures in the shop I will be sure to share them with you.
