Random Wednesday

Random Wednesday is coming at you a little bit late today. I'm trying to collect my thoughts after a very tough day yesterday. I lost a close friend to a horrible disease and it really threw me for a loop. I was just so sad and emotionally frazzled that I couldn't sit down at my computer and turn on the creative juices. Do you ever feel as if life just keeps coming at you? The past few weeks have been exactly that for me. But I keep reminding myself that God will not give me more than I can handle. In the midst of all the craziness that I have found myself dealing with lately, I have decided to commit to some devotional time with God. I have always prayed daily, random times throughout the day, but I was craving some structured time with me, myself and God. My mom has introduced me to a few new books that are helping me with this new journey. I'm finding that mornings are best for this quiet time, since my family is off to work and school. There are some days though, that just start off running and never stop until bedtime, so I am left with no other choice than to end my day with these reflections. The important thing is that I do carve that niche at some point in my day because it really does make me feel so much better.

December in general seems to always be such a busy chaotic month with Christmas and the many events. It flies by and before I know it I'm ringing in the new year with a glass of champagne. My goal this Christmas season is to slow things down a bit, if at all possible. I want to savor each holiday moment...the parades, the parties, the brunches, the shopping, the cookie baking, the ornament exchanges, and the family visits. I'd like to sit down one weekend with my kids and watch every single Christmas movie we own! The years go by so fast and it's so important to treasure time with family and friends. Make each moment count, for life is short and you never know what tomorrow may bring. Hug the ones you love, hug them good and tight. And above all else, remember the reason for the season.
