Friday Fashion...The Basics

It's about this time of year that I start looking through my closet and realize it's time for some "basics" shopping. I'm all about casual comfortable clothing that's stylish yet affordable. I found exactly that when I ventured out for some spring shopping yesterday. My first stop was good ole' Target and once again, they didn't let me down. I've been looking for a light weight denim shirt to throw on over a white tank with some colorful skinny jeans. I found both, the denim shirt and some hot aqua skinny jeans that look great with a pair of wedges. The bonus buy was this adorable ivory and black polka dot sweater. I'm seeing polka dots everywhere lately. I hit up Lucky Brand next, my old faithful "go to" place for everyday basics. I admit...I splurged a bit here. But I think it's justified from the savings I had by shopping at Target first, right? I fell head-over-heels in love with this gorgeous emerald green cropped jacket. The color is amazing, you just have to see it in person to understand. It makes my green eyes pop! And the fabric is like butter, so incredibly soft. I think I will most definitely get my money's worth from this purchase. I promise I will. Final destination...American Eagle. The store my teenage daughter and I share an equal love for. They have the best tops to just throw on with a pair of jeans or shorts. I found this delicate white eyelet top and also this dark heather gray chiffon back t-shirt. The best part was the gift card from Christmas that I discovered in my wallet, gotta love those kind of surprises.

Now it's time to throw open my closet door and get down to business. It's time to purge, donate and trash some old lovelies that I haven't worn in awhile or that just scream dated each time I lay my eyes on them. My closet is only so big and so when I go shopping and bring home new things, that means something old must go. But why is it so hard to let go of old clothing? I should probably tackle this task when I'm in no mood to tolerate indecisiveness. Otherwise, I will try everything single piece of clothing on, hang them back up on the hangers and put them right back where they came from. Or...maybe I could just somehow convince my husband that I need a bigger closet. Yes, a bigger closet. Now that's something I would really love. Another topic for another day...
